Charles & Benton Street Parking Garage, 4 Charles St E., Kitchener, ON N2G 1V8.
a really really big doodle! employs the logic of the absentminded scribble as a means of thinking about the virtual and actual, chaos and order. The work is designed in a graphics program by doodling atop a photograph of Kitchener's Charles & Benton Garage. The colours of the drawing are sourced from the building and its surrounding environment, while the direction and size of the marks is structured by the shape of the building, as well as the bend of the artist's wrist. The many resulting layers of lines are interwoven to fuse into a dynamic entanglement that contrasts with the straight lines the building. Previously installed art is integrated into the design to retain continuity as well as propose new ways of seeing the old.
