Fujiwara Takahiro talks about his installation "Trance Veil" during CAFKA.09. Inspired by the image of falling water, Fujiwara Takahiro proposed a simple mechanical substitute. Clear, thin vinyl strips are studded with subtly painted foam pads at regular intervals. The vinyl bands are looped and turned by mechanized gears. As they move at different speeds the colours flicker and blend into an impressionistic haze resembling a waterfall.
"Trance Veil" has been made possible in part with support from the Japan Canada Fund of the Canada Council for the Arts.
