Kitchener, Ontario – (May 9, 2016) - CAFKA - Contemporary Art Forum Kitchener and Area is proud to announce that Christie® is the presenting sponsor of CAFKA.16. As part of the sponsorship, Christie high brightness DLP projectors will be used in three projection-based art installations. The biennial event kicks off on Saturday May 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Kitchener City Hall.

Christie’s support dates back to the 2007 biennial, culminating in Christie’s vision in establishing the Artist in Residence program in 2012. “Christie’s support for CAFKA has had an enormous impact on the organization, providing CAFKA with the best projection equipment, the best technical assistance, and the funding to attract the best artists from across Canada and from around the world,” says Gordon Hatt, executive director, CAFKA. “As a result, CAFKA has created and exhibited works of art that could only have been produced in Kitchener while branding the Region as a place where cutting-edge technology and contemporary art meet. That’s something CAFKA is very proud of.”

“CAFKA.16 brings an innovative fusion of art and technology to the Kitchener-Waterloo Region,” says Kathryn Cress, vice president, Global & Corporate Marketing, Christie. “Christie is proud to once again be sponsoring CAFKA and supporting the talented artists taking part in this exhibition.”

Christie technology has made possible three unique installations for CAFKA.16, including Toronto-based artist Mary Ma’s kinetic surface mapping projection, “Wind, Water, Wave” being exhibited at 260 King Street West; Ed Pien’s multi-platform project “Staging” in the Rotunda at Kitchener City Hall; and “Bombshell,” a video projection by Kitchener-based artist Lisa Birke, on the Mayfair wall in downtown Kitchener.
